			PICTURE OF THE WEEK Never underestimate the importance of proper soil compaction!			WEEKLY ENGINEER'S JARGON CMU (Construction Masonry Unit a.k.a. Cinder Block or Masonry Block) typically are described by a dimension i.e. 8x4x16. 8 is the depth the 4 is height and 16 is the length of the block in inches. These dimensions are nominal dimensions which include the 3/8” mortar joints between blocks. The actual dimension of the block itself is 7-5/8”x3-5/8”x15-5/8”!
